We have a new feature – Folders

Now, you can visualize articles in folders. Group them logically and move them around quickly.

Create a folder using button “New”. Provide a description of that folder.

The “Unassigned” folder is always on top. It contains articles that have no folder assignment.

You edit folder name and description.

Move articles between folders easily.

Only one folder can assigned to the article.

  • Move – allows you to move article to the new folder.
  • Unassign – will move this article to “Unassigned” folder.
  • Delete – will delete this article.

Content production with Blocks

Blocks are the basic building “blocks” (pun intended) of a Blogely Article. Click the red New Block button, and you see a pop-open window that allows you to add your title. Blogely automatically formats it as H2 for improved searchability once you publish your masterpiece to the web.

You can rearrange your Blocks by dragging and dropping. Easy peasy! You’ll see a snippet of each Block’s content in the center (Crafting) portion of your screen. You can access a Block by clicking on the snippet or clicking on the Block in the Outline. This “filters” what you see in the Crafting area to a particular Block.

Note: Your title will appear as a heading inside the finished Article, so you do not need to create a heading in the Crafting area. Want to change the Block’s title? Click on it in the Crafting area and make your change.

About articles

Our app is designed to empower content creators everywhere. Our focus is to make the article writing process easier and turn the user into a content production machine.

The Article takes shape as you create Blocks. Your work in each Block is displayed in the center Crafting area. Type content, insert images, videos, charts, etc., from your Assets. You are in complete control!

About Workflow

This is a REALLY slick feature of Blogely. While designed for agencies and managing groups of contributors, anyone can specify the steps needed to complete an article. What a great way to ensure you don’t overlook a critical step while juggling all your other tasks.

Click the tab, then check the steps in the Workflow for the Article (each Article can have its own Workflow!). Assign the responsible person and enter any instructions. Save it, and you have a checklist/management tool like no other. No more having things slip through the cracks with the Blogely Workflow feature.

Article outline

The Outline is just what you expect, a list of topics in order of occurrence. In this case, it is a list of the Blocks you create for an Article. If you like to create an outline before you work on an article, Blogely makes it easy. See Blocks for more.

About Assets

Tired of searching multiple apps and file locations for the images, notes, videos, and other items you need to publish a masterpiece? Blogely has you covered. The Assets feature is designed to eliminate searching endlessly for that photo you found or locating a reference.

Click on the Assets drop-down and you see the following: Research, Notes, Library, and Backup.

Research is an app within an app. Click the red New icon, and fill in the four fields you see in the pop-open window. Blogely goes out and returns the top 100 results for your search terms (the first 10 are shown by default). Entire webpages. You can create a dedicated research article, or use portions of content to document your article. Always give proper credit, no plagiarism!

Notes allow you to create content to support your article. You can put anything you like in a note and assign it to one or more blocks. If you quote someone and want to keep track of the source, use a Note. There is a Blogley extension you can install that functions like a miniature Research tool. You can set that up in Settings.

Libraries allow you to upload images, videos, graphics, other documents, and more to use with your Articles. You can assign Library assets to one or more Articles. Filter what is displayed by the current Article, or All to look for the perfect assets to enhance your work.

Versions allow you to make backups of Blocks. Let’s say you want to try a different slant on a section, or a client wants changes. Click the red Save icon, and a copy is created. You can replace the current Block content with any previous versions with a click.

Paraphraser is a true AI-driven tool to let you explore different ways of saying something. But first, this is NOT a spinning tool. If you write something and find it doesn’t quite say it the way you want, try this tool. You will get five (5) alternatives for each sentence in the block. You can select any of the alternatives, or none. The Most unique slider instructs the AI to get more creative in the paraphrasing.

It is a pay per use tool (Blogely Credits), but it may be just the ticket to break a case of writer’s block or get past a tough piece of copy. We’ve all been there.

About SEO

Blogely has a slick integrated SEO capability. Writing fabulous content that doesn’t get noticed by search engines is frustrating. That is where SEO comes into the equation. Before you can make the best use of Blogely’s SEO capabilities, you need to identify the top search terms for your target audience. There are lots of tools for that.

Click on the tab and you see a red SEO optimize link and three fields. Click the link and you start a three-step process to have Blogely create an SEO score for your article. Blogely makes it easy to complete the steps.

Step 1 – Metadata details

Example:

Type your SEO Title – this is what will appear in Google search results.

Type your Meta Description – this is the snippet of information Google shows under your Title.

WordPress Integration – this allows you to link closely to how WordPress handles searches. Enter your WP account information.

Slug – enter the last part of the Article’s URL. It is how your work is identified within your WP site.

Featured image – If you have selected an image to appear at the head of your article (see how in the Title Bar Icons help), be sure to give it a name (Alternative text). The name should include some of your search terms.

Step 2 – Focus keywords

In this step, you enter your primary and secondary keywords. Using the results of your keyword research, enter your primary keyword. Keep in mind keywords can be a single word or several (long-tail). Click the Add keyword button and select a key

Clicking on button “Scan” Blogely systematicaly update SEO scores for all keywords.

About Collaboration

Collaboration allows you to enlist the input of colleagues, clients, friends, or family. This functionality is reserved for Teams and will be available soon. In the meantime, you can submit an article for Feedback. To do this,

Go to the Outline view of your article.

  1. Click on the three vertical dots in the upper right-hand corner.
  2. Select Get feedback.
  3. Fill in the dialog box and click Ok.

When someone provides feedback, you will receive visual notifications in the form of solid red circles with the article’s Organization details.

About Plagiarism

At Blogely, we are passionate about fighting plagiarism. So much so that we integrate the word “Original” in our logo and offer the leading, AI-driven plagiarism checker available as part of the app.

Do you need to use the checker for every article? No, only for those you want to sell in the Blogely Marketplace. But you should consider using it for two reasons.

  • When you run the checker, you receive a report of the results, dated and time-stamped. You have documented the work as yours. Why is this important? Not every writer is ethical. Some may elect to steal your work and publish it is their own. You can combat this theft should it happen with your report. It can get plagiarizers banned.
  • You can document originality when submitting an article to a client. The document is provided with the article when the client purchases your work, allowing them to protect against plagiarism.

Using it is simple.

  1. Click the Plagiarism tab.
  2. Click the red Scan icon.
  3. The app calculates how many credits are required to run the check (more on credits later).
  4. Click okay, and the checker starts working its magic (in 100+ languages). If you need more credits, you can add them within the pop-open window.

The first page of the report shows you three things:

  • Overall Similarity Score (%) – unlike school grades, a 0 here is perfect!
  • Results Found – a numeric value. Again, lower is better.
  • Total Words in Text – the total number of words in your article.

What does it all mean?

If the checker finds similarities, it color codes the results as follows:

  • Red – identical to other copy online. This needs to be changed unless it is an attributed quote, a review by others, etc.
  • Rose/medium pink – minor changes to other copy. Close to existing content. Consider rewording to improve your score.
  • Yellow – related meaning but using different words. This is okay; you are expressing something your way.

What is the deal with Credits?

Our plagiarism checker is provided by CopyLeaks, the best tool for this use on the web, at least in our opinion. They charge us to run a test. We need to cover that expense, so we charge a fee in credits. The same credits we use elsewhere.

Cost: 1 credit for each page of 250 words.

How much will it cost to run a check? For a typical blog article around 700-750 words, it will take 3 credits = 30 cents.

About Summary

We like to think of the Summary feature as an abstract of the article or a meta description. The app uses Google algorithms to scan the article and generate a summary of what it finds. This is extremely useful because this Google technology mirrors what their search engine looks for. See where this is going? Yep, it makes a great meta description creator.

Using it is simple by design.

  • Click the Summary tab.
  • Click the red Summarize icon.
  • In the pop-open window, click OK.

Your Summary is created in about 30-40 seconds, depending upon the length of your article.

Example:

Credits again?

More AI fees are charged. Like with the Plagiarism checker, we recover these costs using the Blogely credit system. Unlike Plagiarism, the Summary is a flat 2 credits or about 20 cents.

Do you need to create a Summary?

Not at all. It is there for your benefit. Give it a try, and you might find it adds further differentiation to your content. Differentiation can mean more readership and more sales. If you are doing it for a client, roll it into the cost of your article.
